Great question and what an important one to ask. With the common constant go-go-go we live most days, it is especially vital to know
what happens after a treatment session. Remember, the treatment session, although gentle, uses precise and intimate engagement into your MindBody. Therefore, there will be an awakening that happens within your tissues (
we want this for change; and you want change or you wouldn't be here). This, awakening of your tissues, is like a snow globe that has been calmly turned over and back. The snow globe's snow takes minutes to settle, however, our human body's take a bit longer. For the average adult human the 'snow' usually settles within 3-5 days, but can take a bit longer in some. This settling is the work of your brilliant MindBody. It knows what it needs for health and homeostasis and has been desperately working to find that place of balance. Treatment is intended to wake a little something up so that it can do what it is designed to do. Meaning, during this settling period, your MindBody is working to reconfigure into a more healthy and functional place (
hallelujah, right?). Once the "snow globe" has settled, then it can take up to 2 weeks for your whole system to settle. This is the re-learning phase. This time is where you are learning how to move, bend, and live now with the restrictions released.
With this said, it is wise to honor this time, to give yourself grace as your MindBody works, to ensure you are nourishing yourself through hydration - proper food choices - walks - breath work - positive self talk (you should be proud of yourself for honoring your desire to live an optimized life) - and, of course, the home integration steps your provider will give you based on your treatment that day.
